SQUIRREL MEETS WORLD, by Shannon and Dean Hale

The story: Doreen Green is new in town, and she's looking for a best friend, which she finds. Yay! She also finds some things she wasn't looking for: the Skunk Club, an evil plot involving buzzers that make dogs go crazy, and the realization that it doesn't matter what the popular kids think. She's the Squirrel Girl! (It even goes with the "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" song...try it out.)

June Cleaver's ratings: Language G; Violence PG; Sexual content G; Nudity G; Substance abuse G; Magic & the occult PG; GLBT content G; adult themes G; overall rating PG.

Liz's comments: Ain't gonna lie, Doreen's character reminded me a lot of Dug in "Up"--which is charming in small doses, but kind of annoying chapter after chapter. However, even though I wasn't a big fan for myself, I know that a certain group of graphic novel readers will like this one and its non-stop action. If Doreen starts bugging you too much, just quit reading the footnotes. ;)
