FELIX YZ, by Lisa Bunker

The story: An unfortunate accident killed Felix's dad--and bound Felix to an alien life form from a fourth dimension. Now Felix and Zyx share the same space...for the moment. But it looks like it's going to kill them both, so a date has been set for The Procedure. In the meantime, Felix is trying to deal with his mom's new boyfriend, his crush on Hector, and the bullies at school. Could life get any more complicated? Felix (and Zyx) are about to find out.

June Cleaver's ratings: Language PG; Violence PG (bullying); Sexual content G; Nudity PG; Substance abuse G; Magic & the occult G; GLBT content PG; adult themes (same-sex attraction, death of a parent, a life-threatening condition) PG-13; overall rating PG.

Liz's comments: So...I went into this expecting David Klass's "Stuck on Earth" and instead, it's more along the lines of a cancer-fighting epic--only instead of cancer, Felix has an alien. It has no bodily form, speaks only in simple syllables, and doesn't really have much personality. The true story is how Felix deals with his reality while trying to hide The Secret from the world at large. While science fiction in a way, it's more a "dealing with the weird stuff life hands to you" kind of story. No space ships or little green men. Sadly.
